Indoors for tonight, outdoors for the season
Outdoors, a rack lifts the woodpile off the ground. Our racks come in two builds, 32mm heavy-duty steel and 38mm premium tubular steel, from 4 feet long up to 12, and both are made for outdoor use only. The 8-foot cover fits over a rack of that length, and the set of four brackets builds a rack around your own 2x4 boards (they do not fit pressure-treated ones).
EPA's advice for firewood is to store it outdoors, off the ground, with only the top of the stack covered, and to burn it after at least six months of seasoning. A rack takes care of the first part. The calendar handles the second.
Indoors, size the holder to the floor you have near the fireplace. The log hoop stands 43 inches tall, the log bin 22, and the steel log holder only 12.5, with ends that fold down when the season is over. Whichever you choose, keep it at least three feet from the fireplace, the distance NFPA gives for anything that can burn. Before you build outside, compare every rack, cover and bracket.
