Description

This 42-inch zero-clearance firebox is the shell a vent-free fire burns in, not the fire itself. Its flush face takes a finish of marble, granite, stone, brick, tile or slate. Inside it is matte black, and a draw screen and hood come with it. Add a mantel if you like, then a vent-free set from our gas log shelf.

Once logs burn inside it, the room takes their exhaust. A qualified professional builds it in and runs the gas, a CO alarm goes nearby, and no one sleeps in that room while it burns. Vent-free heat is restricted or barred in some places, California among them, so check your local code before the framing goes up.
