01 Fire Pits

Our wood-burning pits are steel bowls with a mesh cover against sparks. Langston is a deep round bowl, and Palmetto and Killian add a poker that lifts the spark guard. Hudson is a 34-inch square on adjustable levelers, while Charlotte sets its bowl in a slate top with a lid that turns the pit into a side table. Langston, Palmetto and Hudson come with a cooking grid.
Steel fire rings are for building your own pit. The 28-inch round ring lines a brick surround you lay yourself, and the 36-inch square ring works inside bricks or on its own. On the gas side, the gas fire pit tables (Halifax, Montreal and Lockwood) hide a propane tank behind a hinged door, light with a piezo knob and run at 30,000 to 40,000 BTU.
Wherever the pit goes, NFPA sets it outdoors, at least 10 feet from anything that can burn, on brick, concrete or patio blocks, and away from siding, decks, eaves and low branches. Check local rules and burn permits first, since some towns restrict backyard fires, and keep children and pets at least three feet back. The wood-burning pits and rings sit together for comparison.
