Description

Our 32-inch vent-free stove stands on its own in black cold-rolled steel, with a dual burner that shows two rows of flame. A built-in thermostat and an overheat sensor manage its output of up to 30,000 BTU on natural gas or propane, and we rate it for up to 1,000 square feet. No blower is included.

A vent-free stove releases its exhaust straight into your home, and EPA does not support unvented gas stoves for that reason. Have a qualified technician install it and inspect it every year, with a CO alarm on the same floor. Keep it out of bedrooms. Some places, California among them, restrict or bar vent-free heaters, so confirm your local code first.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Burn Wise: Choosing Wood-Burning Appliances. Most pellet stoves need electricity to run, and a factory-built (zero-clearance) fireplace needs an insert designed and tested for that unit. Decorative gas or electric logs are not designed to be a significant source of heat. EPA does not support gas stoves or gas logs that need no outside venting, because of indoor air quality concerns, and some jurisdictions make installing an unvented gas stove illegal. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Indoor Air Quality: Sources of Combustion Products. Unvented gas and kerosene space heaters, wood stoves and fireplaces are among the indoor sources of carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and particles. With an unvented space heater, EPA advises following the manufacturer's directions, reading a persistent yellow-tipped flame as a sign of maladjustment, and opening a door to the rest of the house and a window slightly while it runs. EPA also says to keep the flue of a gas fireplace open whenever it is in use and to have flues and chimneys inspected every year. Read September 26, 2026.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission: Carbon Monoxide Fact Sheet. Carbon monoxide comes from the incomplete burning of fuels including wood, propane and natural gas, and its early symptoms (headache, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness) resemble the flu. CPSC advises installing appliances to the manufacturer's instructions and local building codes, most of them by qualified professionals, having the heating system with its chimneys and flues inspected every year, fitting UL 2034 carbon monoxide alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, and never running unvented fuel-burning appliances in a room where people sleep. If an alarm sounds, go outside to fresh air at once and call 911 or the fire department. Read September 26, 2026.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Basics. Carbon monoxide is in the fumes whenever fuel burns in stoves, fireplaces, furnaces and similar equipment, and it can build up indoors. CDC advises battery or battery backup CO detectors near every sleeping area, replaced as the manufacturer says or every five years, a yearly check or cleaning of the chimney, yearly service of gas, oil or coal burning appliances by a qualified technician, and gas equipment that carries the seal of a national testing agency such as Underwriters Laboratories. It also says not to cook or burn anything on a stove or fireplace that is not vented. Read September 26, 2026.
California Health and Safety Code, Section 19881. California law bars selling any new or used unvented heater designed for use inside a dwelling, except electric heaters and decorative gas logs for use in a vented fireplace. Natural gas unvented decorative logs and fireplaces may be sold there only if the state housing and health departments approve their use and the other conditions of the statute are met.
