Description

Pick this rack by length. The 4 foot frame holds up to 1/4 cord of firewood and the 8 foot frame up to 1/2 cord, both 49 inches tall in black steel. Its adjustable version is a pair of end brackets that take 2x4s you cut yourself, so your rack runs as long as the space allows.

Every version is for outdoor use only and needs some assembly. Pressure-treated 2x4s will not fit the adjustable brackets, so buy plain lumber for that one. For a fixed frame longer than 8 feet, our tubular-steel log rack goes further.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Burn Wise: Best Wood-Burning Practices. Burn only dry, split wood seasoned for at least six months and stored outdoors off the ground with only the top covered, and test it with a moisture meter, since wood burns best below 20 percent moisture. Never start a fire with gasoline, kerosene or charcoal starter, and never burn trash, cardboard, plastics, or coated, painted or pressure-treated wood, plywood or particle board.
